Sunday Glow: The Universe in You
What if the universe were one big brain, and we’re its neurons?
Have you ever seen one of those videos where they zoom out from a person into the vastness of the universe—galaxies, stars, infinite space—and then zoom back in? Into the body, into cells, molecules, and deeper still, into the intricate web of the brain? At the end, it all looks... the same.
That symmetry is fascinating. The way galaxy clusters resemble neural networks, how the vast and the microscopic mirror one another. It makes you wonder: What if the universe isn’t just like a brain, but actually is one?
What if we’re not separate from it, but part of it—neurons firing within a vast, infinite consciousness?
It makes me think: what if the universe isn’t something "out there"? What if it’s in here, flowing through each of us? What if we’re not separate at all, but threads in the same infinite tapestry, tiny sparks in the same vast brain?
Imagine this: Each of us, every thought, every action, every connection, is like a neuron in the universe’s mind. We’re all part of a grand network, sparking energy, transmitting ideas, contributing to something far beyond ourselves.
The galaxies and stars? They’re like synapses and pathways, transferring light and energy just as neurons fire and transmit signals. The same way your thoughts connect within your brain, the universe might connect through us.
It’s not just a poetic idea. Science hints at this connection. The patterns of the universe—the filaments of galaxies stretching across the cosmos—bear a striking resemblance to the patterns of neural networks in our brains. The fractal nature of reality suggests that the universe is alive, aware, and perhaps even thinking.
If the universe is a brain, then we are its neurons. Our connections, interactions, and emotions are like electrical impulses, lighting up pathways in the universal web.
Think about it: when you feel love, inspiration, or awe, it’s not just your experience. It’s the universe firing through you. Every moment of connection—whether with a person, an idea, or the natural world—is like a synapse bridging the infinite.
This shifts the way we see ourselves. We’re not just individuals floating through space, isolated and alone. We’re integral parts of something far greater, participating in its growth, awareness, and evolution.
If we are neurons in the universe’s brain, then our actions matter. Each spark, each thought, each interaction ripples outward, contributing to the whole. It’s both humbling and empowering:
Humbling because it reminds us that we’re part of something vast, eternal, and intricate.
Empowering because it shows that even the smallest moments of connection and creativity contribute to the larger symphony of existence.
Here’s a verse from a song I wrote, inspired by this idea of cosmic connection:
I am the pause between the notes,
The space where silent meaning floats.
A fleeting spark, a boundless fire,
I am the yearning, the desire.
It’s called “Everywhere and Nowhere”, and it reflects the idea that we are both individuals and part of the infinite.
So here’s what I’m pondering this week: What if the universe isn’t out there, but within us all? What if we’re not just living in it, but thinking, feeling, and creating as part of it?
It’s overwhelming, I know. But maybe that’s the point. To see ourselves as both small and infinite. To recognize that every moment of connection—no matter how fleeting—is part of the universal mind awakening to itself.
Happy Sunday, my friends. Glow on.
